The FordS-Max looks sporty, practical and lithe. It will appeal to those drivers needing to move from their hatch/saloon/estate but who dread the thought of MPV-dom. And the S-Max doesn't just look sporty: opt for the 20 valve V5 2.5 litre engined model and she will top out at 143 mph and do 0-60 in 7.4 secs! The ride and handling are excellent, stiff enough to inspire confidence and yet able to cope effortlessly with bumps and poor surfaces. While the brakes are as you expect from Ford, powerful and progressive. And yet the S-Max is a practical 7 seater, more spacious than the current Galaxy in almost all areas.
The S-Max is available with a choice of 2 petrol engines, a 2 litre 145 PS Duratec, or a 2.5 litre 220 PS Duratec: and two diesels, a 1.8 or 2 litre duratorq producing 125/143 PS respectively. Trim choices range from LX, Zetec and Titanium, with the Titanium also having a X Pack as an extra cost option.
